Margaret Beckett on time as Labour's acting leader

Margaret Beckett reckoned she would never live a "more difficult personal period" as she recalled her period as Labour's acting leader, facing European elections, with no deputy leader or campaign co-ordinator.

And she spoke of not having the "enthusiasm among my colleagues that one might have hoped for".

The former foreign secretary looked at what makes a good political leader after watching a Daily Politics film. as she reviewed the careers of Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair and Neil Kinnock, with Andrew Neil and radio host Iain Dale.
