Hacked Off on Royal Charter for press regulation
The Royal Charter which would cover press regulation "does not deliver" on some crucial issues said Natalie Fenton of the campaigning group Hacked Off.
She said "it looks like the industry have persuaded government to do their bidding" and it was unlikely her group would be able to support the Conservative plan for a charter, with the details revealed so far.
David Cameron and some of his MPs are opposed to Parliament legislating to regulate the press, preferring the option of a charter, which Parliament would not be able to amend.
