Algeria hostages: Five Britons dead or unaccounted for

The Foreign Secretary, William Hague, has said that five British nationals and one UK resident involved in the Algerian hostage crisis are either dead or not accounted for.

Islamist militants took over a gas plant in the Sahara on Wednesday and earlier today Algerian special forces moved in.

Mr Hague said British officials had arrived in the remote area and their priority was to establish exactly what had happened to anyone from the UK who had been working there.
