Gay marriage: Nadine Dorries and Iain Dale on Tory views
A Conservative backbencher who said she supported gay marriage claimed the issue could cost the party four million votes from Christians at the ballot box.
Nadine Dorries said David Cameron was leading the party "into a lot of trouble" as the public did not back the policy, adding that it would be "incredibly hard to get Conservative core voters to vote Conservative".
Iain Dale said he was the first Tory candidate to tell a selection panel he was gay, but said there was "still a lot of work to do on this issue".
