Government 'monitored' Olympic security before G4S issue

Home Secretary Theresa May has told the BBC that the government had been monitoring the Olympic venues' security for some time, but they were only alerted to the problem with G4S's contract on Wednesday.

Labour has said there were "serious questions" for Mrs May over the extent to which the Home Office had oversight over the contract.

Mrs May also said it was a matter for G4S whether anyone at the company should lose their job over the issue.
