Tony Blair on charity, tax and 'incoherent' coalition

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has spoken to the BBC's Newsnight about his opposition to government plans to limit tax relief on charitable donations.

The planned cap has been criticised by Labour and philanthropists, as well as some senior government figures.

Mr Blair also told Jeremy Paxman that he wouldn't offer advice to current Labour leader Ed Miliband. He went on to say that the nature of the coalition government meant "policy trade" and sometimes "incoherence".

Mr Blair was speaking from Washington DC where he was giving a speech to the Global Philanthropy Forum.
