House of Lords reform with elections and retirements
Peers are set to face elections and enforced retirements as the coalition government reforms the upper house.
Liberal Democrat Lord Tyler said the House of Lords was full of "retired has-been politicians" while cross-bencher Baroness Deech compared it to a Ryanair flight and said there was no room to sit down.
Giles Dilnot reports on the reforms - announced by Nick Clegg last May - hours after peers inflicted the biggest rebellion of this Parliament over plans to charge single parents to use the Child Support Agency.
