Will housing benefit caps bring down private rents?

Housing benefit changes that were introduced last April for new claimants will start to affect existing tenants from this month - the government hopes the cap will save money and bring down private rents.

Opponents say the move will force families living in affluent areas out of their homes. But others question whether the state should pay people to live in places that most taxpayers cannot afford.

David Thompson spoke to Karen Buck MP, Policy Exchange director Neil O'Brien and Michael Kingsley of Pembertons on how it could affect parts of London.
