National Lottery: Sir Ivan Lawrence on Margaret Thatcher's doubts
Sir John Major is often credited with bringing in the National Lottery, but it was Sir Ivan Lawrence who kickstarted the ball-dropping enterprise.
He explained the background to his 1991 Private Member's Bill and why Margaret Thatcher was far from keen on the enterprise.
And he told Giles Dilnot how people still thank him today when they have won big money.
