Lib Dem council leaders attack spending cuts

More than 80 prominent Liberal Democrat councillors are in open revolt against the coalition's spending plans.

In a letter to The Times, they say the cuts are too big and too fast.

A Liberal Democrat minister urged his party not to fall out with each other in what he described as a "pointless debate".
