Labour warns budget will cut 10,000 police by 2012

The Labour Party has released a new report claiming ten thousand police officers in England and Wales could lose their jobs, due to budget cuts.

However the coalition government insists that savings could be made if police forces cut back on bureaucracy and shared resources.

But Labour's spokesman on policing, Vernon Coaker told the BBC the impact of the budget cuts would still impact front line services.
