PM says UK combat role in Afghanistan will end by 2015

David Cameron has stated the plan to end the combat role of British troops in Afghanistan by 2015 is a firm commitment which will be met.

Speaking in the Commons, he said the transition to Afghan control of security would begin early next year in order to meet President Karzai's objective for Afghan forces to lead and conduct security operations in all provinces by the end of 2014.
