Alan Johnson: Cuts are Tory 'ideological objectives'

The Chancellor, George Osborne, has set out the long awaited details of his Spending Review to MPs in the House of Commons.

In his response, shadow chancellor of the exchequer Alan Johnson said that making the deepest cuts to public spending in living memory, was what many Conservative MPs "came into politics for".
