Prison officer Adrian Ismay injured in Belfast bomb attack dies

A prison officer whose van was blown up by dissident republicans 11 days ago has died.

Adrian Ismay, 52, had been recovering from injuries sustained in the attack but was readmitted to hospital on Tuesday morning.

It is unclear whether his death is related to his injuries.

Some dissident republican inmates in Maghaberry Prison, where Mr Ismay worked, are said to have celebrated in front of prison officers when they heard about his death.

BBC News NI's home affairs correspondent Vincent Kearney reports.
