Newcastle RNLI assists in fisherman rescue off County Down Coast

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and the Irish Coast Guard have assisted in a cross-border rescue operation after a fisherman fell from a boat in rough seas off the County Down coast.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Dublin airlifted the injured to hospital in Newry where he is being treated for head and chest injuries.

Ciaran Leneghan, a volunteer from Newcastle RNLI, posted a short video of the all-weather lifeboat being launched to the rescue at about 06:00 GMT.
