Aspects of assembly opposition bill 'killed off'

A radical plan for an official opposition in the Northern Ireland Assembly has been heavily watered down.

Parties including Sinn Féin, the Social Democratic and Labour Party and the Democratic Unionist Party objected to major parts of a bill drawn up by the independent unionist John McCallister.

But Mr McCallister said what is left is still a major breakthrough.
