Trio jailed for £3m mortgage fraud

A former bank manager, an ex-solicitor and a former estate agent have been jailed for their part in a multi-million pound mortgage fraud and money-laundering scheme.

The trio, who all worked in the Newry area of County Down, falsified mortgage applications totalling more than £3m. The cross-border fraud took place at the height of the property boom.

Friday's sentences followed a "massive" police investigation, involving more than 100 officers.

BBC Newsline's Gordon Adair reports.
