Belfast flag protests: Loyalists clash with police

A police officer has been taken to hospital after being injured in clashes with loyalists in east Belfast.

Disturbances were reported on the Newtownards Road and on O'Neill Road in Newtownabbey, following an earlier peaceful protest outside Belfast City Hall. It is the sixth day of demonstrations over a decision by the City Hall to no longer fly the union flag every day.

The police have said paramilitaries have organised some of the violence.

Mark Simpson reports.
