Smoke grenade thrown at a police van in North Yorkshire on film

The moment a lit smoke grenade was thrown at a police camera safety van was captured on film by the van it hit.

Jake Sarup, 22, of Foxholes, near Driffield in North Yorkshire, pleaded guilty at York Crown Court to causing a public nuisance and was given a 12-month community order.

Sarup had thrown the grenade from the back of a car he was in on the A64, near Sherburn, in September 2015.
