Swimmer, 85, sets record after 68-break from sport

A record-breaking swimmer who returned to the sport after a 68-year gap has been described as a "phenomenon".

Grenville Cole, 85, from Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset gave up swimming in his youth but got back in the pool to give him an "aim in life", after losing his wife and daughter.

He set a new British record for the 50m breaststroke in the men's 85-89 age group at the Swim Wales Open Masters Championships last weekend.

Sara Cox-Conklin, from Burnham on Sea Swim & Sports Academy, says he is an "inspiration".

Andy Howard reports.
