'No hosepipe ban' pledge in Wessex Water pipeline upgrade

A £230m upgrade to Wessex Water's supply pipelines for homes in Bath and Wiltshire has come with a pledge of no hosepipe bans for generations to come.

The company is two years away from finishing laying its 120-mile pipe to get water from Dorset to homes further north where demand is higher.

It is the biggest project of its kind in the UK.

Drummond Modley, of Wessex Water, said the north-south link would provide a better service for customers.
