Burradon miners' church cross vandalised before Christmas

A cross has been vandalised outside a North Tyneside village's church in the run up to Christmas.

Residents were left in shock when the cross, a symbol of Burradon Colliery which closed in the 1970s, was snapped in two outside the Church of the Good Shepherd on 15 December.

Reverend Angela Maughan said: "I'm very upset about it."
