Alan Shearer: Ex-England and Newcastle striker made CBE

Former England and Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has been honoured for his charity work.

The Premier League's all-time top scorer was made a CBE by FA president the Duke of Cambridge at Buckingham Palace.

He launched the Alan Shearer Foundation in 2012 to provide support for disabled people.

The 46-year-old, now a pundit on the BBC's Match of the Day, said he was "honoured and delighted".
