HMS Glasgow warship explosion 40 years on

Forty years ago today, eight men lost their lives in an explosion on the HMS Glasgow at Swan Hunter's Neptune yard on the Tyne.

The blaze was started by a welder's torch after gas leaked from an oxygen cylinder.

For those who were there, the trauma of that day remains fresh in the memory.

Former electrician Jack Hanwell and ex-painter John Hunter recalled the tragedy.
