The family of a woman who died from a rare form of cancer aim to fund a PhD dedicated to researching the disease.

Nicky Asbury from Morpeth, was diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma in 2015. She died in July aged 52.

Her husband Mark Welfare and their three sons, including their youngest Lucas, 10, are raising £36,000, which Newcastle University is matching, to sponsor a student at its cancer research institute.
