Regatta marks Waterloo anniversary

Thousands of people were transported back in time as the Durham Regatta marked the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

The event has its origins in an annual procession of boats on the River Wear, organised by the Sheriff of County Durham and the Rt Hon William Lloyd Wharton in June 1815 to celebrate victory at Waterloo.
