'Electioneer' George Osborne launches rural business fund

The Chancellor George Osborne has been accused of electioneering after coming to a marginal Northumberland constituency to launch a rural business fund.

The fund, worth £2.5m, is part of an effort to support all areas of the economy, the chancellor said as he unveiled it in Berwick.

But his political opponents accused him of electioneering, after he failed to tell the current Liberal Democrat MP he was coming.
