Containers arrive in South Shields for Easter Passion
The first of a dozen shipping containers has arrived on Tyneside for a contemporary retelling of the Easter story to be televised by the BBC.
The Great North Passion will combine an art installation and a broadcast in South Shields on Good Friday.
The steel boxes will be transformed to reflect the stations of the cross and Christ's trial and death.
The Great North Passion is part of a £2m Arts Council project aimed at increasing engagement with the arts in 10 wards in Sunderland and South Tyneside.
It will be broadcast on Good Friday, 18 April on BBC One.
