Chris Mearns' search for children he captured on film
Thirty years ago, photographer Chris Mearns was working on a community project in Newcastle's West End when he decided to set up a makeshift photo booth.
His idea was that local people - children and some adults - could take their own portraits.
Over the years he could not help wondering what had become of them.
It became his ambition to one day track them down. But it was only this year - three decades on - that he seriously tried to find them.
Inside Out's Chris Jackson followed Mr Mearns' attempts and discovered the story had a devastating twist.
