Age UK calls for action on scams targeting older people

The government must get the banks to work together with police and local authorities to tackle the issue of older people being targeted by scams, Age UK has said.

It is estimated more than half of people over the age of 65 have been targeted by email, telephone or post.

One victim, 84-year-old Chris Cattanach from West Sussex, lost nearly half a million pounds after falling victim to telephone scams.

"I've been really taken for a ride," he said.
