Attempted robbery at Sudbury cashpoint foiled

A woman fended off two would-be muggers at a town centre cash machine.

One tried to distract her and pushed the £200 selection at the Barclays Bank machine in Sudbury, Suffolk.

The victim, Camilla Rodwell, 51, said: "I whacked him across the chest, not very hard, and he looked a bit surprised by that and thought he might have met his match."

Ms Rodwell said she managed to keep hold of her money and the other robber failed to grab her card.

Police are now using CCTV footage to try and trace the men who walked off after the failed robbery on Tuesday, 22 December.
