West councils ordered to lift ban on council meeting filming

Councils in the West are being ordered to allow the public and the media to record and film their meetings.

The House of Lords is expected to approve the change later.

The government acted after councils, including Bath and North East Somerset Council, ignored advice that filming should be allowed.

The new law is expected to come into effect next month.
