Shropshire fire control room plans criticised

Plans by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service to share control room facilities have been criticised by politicians.

Chief fire officer John Redmond told BBC Sunday Politics in the Midlands that he needs to save money.

But the Conservative MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, Daniel Kawczynski, questioned why the brigade is holding almost £9m in its reserves.

BBC Radio Shropshire's political correspondent, Joanne Gallacher, reports.
