Nottingham bus destroyed by fire after 'explosion'

About 20 people escaped from a bus in Nottingham shortly before it was destroyed by fire.

Many witnesses reported the bus exploding, but Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said the loud bang was caused by just a tyre exploding.

NCT said the cause of the fire was unknown and will be investigated independently.

The fire service was called to Farnborough Road in Clifton at 17:36 BST.

The BBC spoke to witnesses Jamie Tarbert and Charlotte Betts.
