Nottingham student Ethan Buttress to be youngest bone marrow donor

A student will become the youngest person in the UK to donate his bone marrow to a stranger when he has an operation this week.

Ethan Buttress, 17, was told he is a match for a young boy who needs a transplant after signing up to the Anthony Nolan Trust register at Bilborough Sixth Form College in Nottingham

The age limit for donors was lowered from 18 to 16 in 2012.

Alison Lardi, from the college, which got involved with the trust after a former student died from leukaemia, said she was "delighted".

Ethan's girlfriend Eliza McGeehan said she was proud of him.
