Cherry Trees care home 'left stroke victim without ambulance for five hours'

Care home staff left a stroke victim for five hours before calling an ambulance - because two senior workers both thought the other had called for medical help.

The Local Government Ombudsman said what happened at the Cherry Trees home was "completely unacceptable" and recommended compensation.

Eileen Rock, who has a string of other illnesses, has now developed further speech difficulties and lost her ability to walk.

Nottingham City Council, which runs the care home, has apologised to the 79-year-old and her family.
