Edgar Mobbs: Rugby and WW1 hero 'ran into gunfire'

Former England rugby captain Edgar Mobbs died in the Battle of Passchendaele on 31 July 1917.

Turned down for an army commission for being too old, he enlisted as a private and raised his own company of sportsmen.

Mobbs was killed attempting to take a German machine gun emplacement.
