Lewis Brown: Northampton Saints player killed in war

Northampton Saints player Lewis Brown died 100 years ago in World War One.

Brown was killed on 15 June 1917 when the dug-out he and his comrades were sheltering in was hit by a huge shell.

Only one man survived the attack at Moat Farm in Vlamertinghe, not far from Ypres in Belgium.

Brown is buried in the area's cemetery and his name appears at the War Memorial at Saints' Franklin's Gardens.
