Caterpillar infestation covers Corby cherry trees

Thousands of caterpillars and webbing have covered a well-known line of cherry trees in Corby, prompting an investigation by officials.

Trees lining Cottingham Road have been taken over by ermine moth larvae for the second year running.

The caterpillars are not hazardous to human health but can cause significant damage to the trees in the long term, Corby Borough Council said.

The council is working with external consultants to try to break the cycle of them returning in future.
