Daventry acid spill brings major disruption

Two police officers were among six people who needed hospital treatment after a chemical spill outside a factory caused major disruption.

Workers spent four hours trapped inside their factory because of the acid cloud when 1,000 litres of hydrochloric acid spilled into Hackwood Road in Daventry, Northamptonshire, on Tuesday.

Nearby roads were closed and people living nearby were told to stay indoors with windows closed.

Emma Baugh reports.
