Wildcat kitten born at Chester Zoo

Footage has been released of a "rare and elusive" Scottish wildcat kitten that has been born at Chester Zoo.

It is the first kitten to be born at the zoo as part of a project to pull back the UK's threatened wildcat population from the edge of extinction.

Lees than 100 wildcats - affectionately known as Highland Tigers - are left in the UK and they are Britain's rarest mammal.

They were almost hunted to extinction for their fur and to stop them preying on valuable game birds, but are now protected.
