Coast-to-coast canoe trail connects River Mersey with the Humber

England's first coast-to-coast canoe trail is being developed connecting the River Mersey with the Humber.

The 150-mile (241 km) route will use the Leeds-Liverpool Canal to link Liverpool on the west coast with Goole in Yorkshire over the next five years, project manager Greg Brookes told Inside Out.

Community hubs will also be set up along the way.

BBC Inside Out is on BBC One from 19:30 GMT on Monday.
