LGBT housing community plan for over 50s in Manchester

Plans for an LGBT housing community for over 50s have been put forward by Manchester City Council.

Heather Williams from the LGBT Foundation, which is backing the scheme, said: "It's not necessarily about ghettoising particular communities - it is offering people who want that opportunity."

Research, commissioned by Manchester City Council, found higher levels of loneliness and isolation amongst older people who lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
