'Angry' man in hammer attack on Trafford Town Hall

An "angry" man has been caught on CCTV attacking a town hall with a hammer causing damage estimated to cost thousands of pounds.

He smashed windows and attacked the revolving doors at Trafford Town Hall in Stretford, Greater Manchester about 02:35 on Saturday.

Council Leader Sean Astee said: "This appears to be an attack by an extremely angry person and has caused extensive damage...Not only is the cost of repair extensive but this will also cause inconvenience to our staff and customers not to mention the considerable cost to taxpayers."

Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers are investigating the incident and checking CCTV footage.
