Manchester 999 caller 'a bit scared' of hedgehog

An "irresponsible" 999 call from a man claiming to be "a bit scared" of a hedgehog killing slugs in a garden has been released by police in Manchester.

The conversation includes the call handler telling the man the animal is a "natural inhabitant of the British Isles" and "won't harm you".

A police spokesman said the call had been released to illustrate some of the misuse of the 999 service that staff can face.
