Liverpool benefit cheat couple are jailed

A Liverpool couple who admitted cheating the benefits system out of more than £115,000 by pretending to be a landlord and tenant have been jailed for 12 months.

Cheryl Patterson, from Woolton, claimed £89,000 over five years by telling authorities she was a single mother when she was living with her partner David Tracey, 36.

Tracey's father Denis was also fined £2,000 for dishonestly receiving housing benefit and receiving payment in error.
