Croydon boxer helps older isolated people at Christmas

Older people in London are becoming more lonely and isolated during the festive period, according to Age UK.

A quarter of people aged over 65 say they are not looking forward to Christmas and 90,000 people say they often feel lonely, the charity said.

Age UK blames the closure of services by local authorities because of budget cuts.

In Croydon, local boxer John Steel stepped in to make sure older people in his community had somewhere to meet over Christmas. BBC London's Katharine Carpenter reports.
