Cuckoo Hall Academy Trust head faces misconduct probe

The head teacher of the first academy primary school in England has been suspended over allegations of gross misconduct.

Patricia Sowter, executive head of the Cuckoo Hall Academy Trust in Enfield, was praised by the former Education Secretary Michael Gove for being a so-called "superhead" who was driving up standards, but now she and two colleagues are awaiting the findings of an investigation.

BBC London's Marc Ashdown reports in a story containing an interview with Ms Sowter from 2010.

Update: Patricia Sowter and two colleagues were reinstated in January 2015.
