Award-winning George Eliot Primary school investigated

An investigation is under way into ''safeguarding concerns'' at an award-winning primary school in north London, after the head teacher was suspended.

BBC London understands 18 past and present staff at George Eliot Primary in St John's Wood have given evidence as witnesses.

An interim head is now running the school which last year was named Primary School of the Year by the Times Educational Supplement.
