Water level warning to boat users on the River Thames

As the boating season gets under way, river users are being urged to take extra care on the Thames because of higher than usual water levels.

The Environment Agency says there are strong currents and lots of debris in the water between Teddington, west London and Lechlade, Gloucestershire.

It says the continuing effects of the heavy flooding over the winter could make conditions more difficult for recreational boat users, who traditionally start to use the River Thames towards the end of April.
